Journey Road Thursday

Sorry this is coming out so late today, my girls have been sick the past few days.

Destination:

What does it mean to be inspired? Describe how do you know some one or something has inspired you?
To be inspired is that feeling of seeing something you have never seen before and/or to see something you have seen a million times but see it as though it were the first time. It is comprised of deep compassion, encouragment from a place of expertise, and a bit of challenge to your pride. When I feel inspired, truly inspired, I am overcome with a sense of longing. I want what he/she has (I don't mean this as coveting or jelousy, but a desire to want change in my life).

I realized that when I am feeling disstatisfied with my life, it is usually because there is someone who is living an inspireed life in front of me. There is a pastor in my church whose life, the choices she makes, the things she does, the scarfices she makes-inspire me, encourage me, challenge me to live a life beyond myself.

If I leave it there at just feeling inspired by her, I belive I will miss out on the goodness that God has for me. I believe he brings people into our lives to inspire us to greatness. It is the principle of iron sharpens iron. We are meant to live in community, with other people, with them in our lives and us in theirs. Not that wanting time to yourself is bad, but withdrawing to the point of exclusion creates a black hole in our hearts and minds. There is a movie, Meet the Robinson's, where the bumbling villian's, Goob, backstory is told. He chose to not see the people who wanted to be a part of his life and focused on one bad incidnet and let it fester. His choices led him down a path that really wasn't true to who her was or what he ever wanted for his life. The same can become true for us, if we allow ourselves to withdraw from others involvement in our lives.

Where to?
Find someone in your life who inspires you and tell them why/how you are inspired by their life.
